Finnforest Thermowood is produced by heat treating Finnish grown European Redwood (Red Pine) to temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Centigrade. During the heat treatment, chemical and structural changes occur within the timber which alter and improve some of its basic characteristics.
The resulting product is an altogether more durable and stable timber, an ideal material for use in exposed areas such as external wall claddings.
You can find pricing for supply and installation of the ThermoWood cladding on each of our building system pages.
The benefits of ThermoWood©DurabilityThe improved durability of Finnforest ThermoWood© makes it an excellent material to use in the production of timber claddings and rain screens. The heat treatment process enables the use of Scandinavian Redwood in areas requiring a service life of upt to 30 years without the need for a chemical preservative. EnvironmentThe timber used to produce Finnforest Thermowood© is grown in our Finnish forests which are fully certified under the Finnish Forestry Certification System and Pan European Forestry Certification. As such you can be sure Finnforest ThermoWood© is sourced from well managed and sustained forests. The heat treatment process requires no chemical additives. The improved performance is achieved simply by the controlled application of heat and steam. StabilityFinnforest ThermoWood© is more stable than untreated softwood. The changes occur within the timber during heat treatment make it less able to absorm or lose moisture. This restriction of moisture movement limits any potential for swelling, shrinkage or distortion of ThermoWood© cladding boards. MaintenanceHeat treatment removes resin from redwood timber. As a result there is no resin leakage or "bleed" through the surface coatings. The combined effect of this together with the improved stability can lead to a lower maintenance requirement. |

The Thermowood range is rich and golden. The dark tones may resemble hardwood, yet its solid boards are pure Scandinavian softwood sourced from sustainable forests.
The heat treatment that improves the performance of ThermoWood uses no chemicals, which gives the added benefit that you know your deck is good for the environment.
It works through the winter too. The resistance of ThermoWood to water and to fungal attack is so effective that your deck will last up to 15 years and, with just a simple deck oil, you can maintain that rich colour. If you don't want to treat it for colour, there's no need, the performance will not suffer and the colour will simply weather naturally
